OCTOBER'S BEST YOU CHALLENGE: 3 MINUTE DANCE PARTIES

It's that time of the month again Queens. This month, we're going to keep it light and fun by dancing away any stress, worry, pain, or dancing for all of the great things happening in our lives at any given time during the month.

But first, let's recap last month's challenge!

Wrapping up September's Best You Challenge

September's Best You Challenge of Journaling two pages a day was a cakewalk for me. As previously reported, I have gotten into the routine of journaling about four pages every day. For my course work with The Artist's Way, I am required to journal three pages every morning. These are my "morning pages" and are a crucial part in successfully reading the book and completing the course.

When I first began my morning pages, they were a place for me to work out all the things that I was stressing and worrying about for the day. As of today, October 11th, my morning pages are still daily therapy sessions.

I've also gotten into the routine of journaling my three points of gratitude every evening and working through any issues from my day every night. This has helped me put a nice cap on the day and go to sleep at peace and ready for rest.

As will all of my challenges, I will definitely continue journaling; even when I finish The Artist's Way. I am much more connected with myself and aligned with my purpose when I take a moment every day to put everything on the page so that I can go through my day with a clear mind.

October's Best You Challenge

I was first introduced to having dance parities through Grey's Anatomy. As seen in the clip above, Meredith and her best friend Cristina dance it out in order to relieve stress, to express happiness, to let go of their feelings and just be.

I began having dance parties in college when I returned from studying abroad. I was very depressed, dealing with reverse culture shock and just trying to get through the multitude of items on my to-do list. I would put on my favorite song, blast it as loud as I possibly could and just dance. Most of the time, the song was a Beyonce song and thus my #SoloBeyonceDanceParty was born.

Soon, my dance parties were something I would do to hype myself up before a Speech and Debate competition, to get ready for a test, or to celebrate my accomplishments. They were my favorite way to just relax and unwind.

Overtime I stopped doing dance parties. I finished school and got lost in the struggle of adulting where there is no time for a dance party. But as I walk in my spiritual journey, I am realizing more and more that it is important to take time to be with yourself and give yourself time to live in the moment stress and worry free.

I think dance parties can be a form of meditation and can be very good for both your mental health and your physical health too.

How to: Solo Dance Party Challenge

It's simple. Put on your favorite song and dance. Every day. For the next 21 days. The challenge starts today.

The purpose of this challenge is to bring you out of the future, bring you out of the past, out of your stress, worry, to-do list, out of the board room, that meeting you had last week, and whatever other duties you may have in life. Take three minutes to live in the moment every day and enjoy your favorite song.

To help you with this month's challenge, I've updated my 2018 power playlist originally showcased in this blog post on Building your Castle and I've added some hits from this year to it. For all of my tidal users, you can just click on theses songs to get going. Or, if you use another music streaming service, you can always just create your own playlist with the same songs and customize it for you.

How to Join the Challenge

You know the drill by now. I'll be posting the graphic for this month's challenge on Instagram today. To join the challenge, comment "I'm In" in the comments on that post.

This month, I want to see all of the Phorbe Queens participating in the challenge. So, I am going to take it a step further and ask that you post a Instagram Story of your dance party using the hashtag #PhorbeDanceParty at least once per week for the rest of the month.

Now, the goal is for you to be with your self and enjoy your time. So, filming your solo dance party is not a priority. However, if you can catch your joy and bliss on camera a couple of times this month, I ask that you use the hashtag and tag Phorbe so that the Queendom can share in your joy and bliss with you. Let's encourage and celebrate each other queens!

Watch Phorbe's Instagram Story everyday, as I will be posting each of my solo dance parties every day too!

So what do you say Queens? Are you ready to stand in the sun with me and dance it out?

Let me know in the comment section below!

It's a beautiful day to conquer the world. So, dance into the Queen you're meant to be and slay!
