The other day, I saw a post somewhere on instagram that said something along the lines of you owe yourself at least 1 hour of self-development every day. 1 hour out of 24, that's less than 5% of your day. Queens, I want to take that a step further and say that you owe yourself at least 1 hour a day to do something you truly love to do.
With that said, for our very first Best You Challenge straight out of our hiatus, we will be dedicating an hour of fun to ourselves every day.
But first, let me roll this back. We have a lot of new Queens, Kings, and Royalty in the Queendom, so I feel I need to explain Best You Challenges.
What are the Phorbe Best You Challenges
As you know know Phorbe is centered around four basic tenants, the 4 Bs of Phorbe: Bold, Blessed, Beauty, Best You. Best You reminds us to always strive for the best version of ourselves. It's a reminder that we should always be learning, always be growing. So, with the Phorbe blog, I strive to help you walk that walk.
Each month, we will have a Best You challenge that challenges you to create a positive habit in your life towards a better, happier, sexier, smarter you. In the past we have done journaling challenges, power posing, drinking a gallon of water etc.
Also, because studies show that it takes 21 days to form a new habit, on average, our challenges run the last 21 days of the month.
What's the Happy Hour Best You Challenge
It's really simple Queen, make time for you. I'm always preaching how you should take Sundays to be selfish and love on yourself. Well now, I want you spread that love throughout the week.
For our challenge next month, I want you to choose an activity you love doing and do it for an hour every day.
No excuses. No, I don't have time. No, I'm too tired. None of that. Find the time, make the time for you. Make yourself a priority.
If you like to draw, draw for an hour every day. If you like to write, write for an hour every day. If you like to cook, cook yourself a bomb as meal and eat it every day. Do what makes you happy Queen.
Bonus points if you can find the time to do this activity alone with just you, yourself, and your reflection. However, I will understand if that's just not feasible.
Get creative Queens. Wake up an hour early. Go to bed an hour later. Use your lunch hour. If you love listening to audio books, use the hour on your way home, after work, to listen to a new audiobook. If you love to dance, get the kids together and have a dance party every night right before bed. Look at that there, you've killed two birds with one stone. The kids are tired and you've reached your happy place.
How to Join the Challenge
Since there are only 31 days in August, this month's challenge will begin on August 11th and run through the end of the month. On August 11th, I will post the challenge's cover photo, above, on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. To join the challenge, comment "I'm In" on that post on Instagram. Then make sure you check in weekly for accountability and the chance to win free giveaways!
So Queens, what do you say? Wanna go to happy hour with me? HA! I know, that was hella corny!
It's a beautiful day to conquer the world. So, prioritize yourself and step into the Queen you're meant to be!
